Manipur virus toll climbs to 291

IMPHAL, Dec 2 - Manipur has reported two more deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, official sources said here today. The cumulative number of virus deaths in the State has now touched 291.

In the last 24 hours, two persons � a 58-year-old female from Imphal West and a 70-year-old male from Imphal East � expired at the RIMS and the JNIMS Hospital respectively, stated Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson of the Manipur Health Department in a press release today.

Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, 141 persons, including 74 females from the general population and six personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces, tested positive for COVID-19. The new cases were detected at 20 testing facilities in the State. Meanwhile, 219 persons including 122 under home isolation, were discharged from 12 COVID care facilities in the past 24 hours. The cumulative number of positive cases in Manipur is 25,390, while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 3,162 and 21,937 respectively. The recovery rate of the State currently stands at 86.40 per cent.

As on December 2, 4,80,329 people have been screened at various entry points into the State, while 4,26,119 individuals have been tested for the disease, said officials.
