Manipur virus cases cross 25,000-mark

IMPHAL, Nov 30 - With 135 new COVID-19 positive cases, Manipur on Monday crossed the 25,000-mark, taking the state�s total tally to 25,045, official said.

Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson of the Health Department in a press release on Monday said 135 persons from the general population were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases at 22 testing facilities during the past 24 hours.

The new cases from general population are from Imphal West (44), Imphal East (45),Thoubal (12),Bishnupur (9),Kakching (14), Churachandpur (4), Jiribam (1),Ukhrul (1),Tamenglong (4) and Chandel (1), it added.

In the last 24 hours, eight persons aged 54 years (a male from Imphal West), 62 years (a male from Imphal West),71 years (a male from Imphal West), 80 years (a male from Imphal West), 71 years (a male from Imphal East), 76 years (a female from Imphal East), 90 years (a male from Imphal East) and 70 years (a male from Bishnupur) expired at Raj Medicity (1), Shija hospital (2), JNIMS (2) and RIMS (3) hospital respectively, the release said.The cumulative number of deaths is 281.

Meanwhile, a total of 165 persons were discharged from 15 Covid care facilities in the past 24 hours, it added.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 25,045 while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 3,198 and 21,566 respectively, it added. The recovery rate is 86.10 percent.

As on Sunday, 4,74,831 people were screened at various entry points into the state, while 4,18,298 individuals were tested for the disease, said officials.

The state Health Department has started sero-surveillance study in four selected districts, namely Churachandpur, Imphal West, Kakching and Ukhrul districts of Manipur, the release said.
