GUWAHATI, Sept 26 - Manipur team emerged champions in the United Brothers organised third North East Veteran Football Championship.
In the final played at the Judges� Field here last evening, the Manipur team defeated Kokrajhar Veterans Football XI 5-4 in tie breaker after playing 1-1 draw.
The Manipur team received Rs 50,000 as cash award along with the Kanak Chandra Baruah Trophy while the Kokrajhar veterans walked away with a cash of Rs 30,000 and the Habibun Nesa Trophy.
Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit was the chief guest in the closing function. Director of Sports Pabitra Khound, South Kamrup DC Rajib Prakash Baruah, SAI city centre director Subhash Basumatary, SP Partha Sarathi Mahanta were also present in the closing function.
