IMPHAL, July 18 - A top Manipur Police officer allegedly shot at himself with his service revolver here this afternoon, officials said. The bullet reportedly hit the officers chin. The reason behind the incident could not be immediately ascertained.

The injured officer is Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Arvind Kumar, who is a 1992 batch IPS officer of the Manipur cadre.

The incident took place at Kumars official quarters here around 1.30 pm, sources said. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment.
