Manipur to send 403 players

IMPHAL, Jan 20 � Manipur is all set to send a 478 strong contingent including 403 players for the upcoming 35th National Games to be held from January 31 to February 14 in Kerala.

Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh will officially flag off the contingent which will be moving in five phases, on February 24 mornings from the Khuman Lampak sports complex in Imphal.

Parliamentary secretary (Youth affairs and sports) M Prithviraj who is the treasurer of Manipur Olympic Association (MOA), will lead Manipur team as its Chef De Mission and he will be assisted by five Deputy Chef De Mission- Dr GA Ibopishak, Dr S Shantikumar, GA Sanatomba, K Jayananda and Jyotin Waikhom.

Manipur players will take part in 20 events out of 35 events of the games which are scheduled to take place at five different places in the South Indian state. Olympian archer Laishram Bombayla will be the flag bearer of the State contingent during the march past period.
