IMPHAL, March 8 � Manipur Inter-state Taxi Service Workers Association (MISTA) has called a 48 hour bandh on National Highway 2 (Imphal-Dimapur route) beginning this evening in protest against the killing of driver Manas Ali of Sukhajan village in Karbi Anglong district of Assam.
The Association has asked the government to trace out the culprits and book them under the law of the land. It also urged the government to give compensation to the next of kin of the driver.
The driver had gone missing after unidentified persons hired his Tata Winger van from North AOC locality on the pretext of taking a patient to Dimapur on February 22. He was found dead at Molvom village in Senapati district yesterday.
