Manipur task force to identify COVID-19 vaccine beneficiaries

IMPHAL, Dec 10 - Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today stated that a task force has been formed to identify the first beneficiaries of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Speaking at the Manipur International Textile Expo on the outskirts of Imphal, Biren Singh urged the people to take extra precautions as the number of virus fatalities has been rising in the State.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated a new 100-bed COVID block with 10 ICU beds on the State-run Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) premises in Imphal East district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister appealed to medical personnel to work with more dedication to curb the COVID-19 pandemic. Biren Singh said that the grievances and demands of the medical personnel would be looked into.

COVID-19 tally: For the first time in days, Manipur reported no death case due to COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, officials said. The virus toll of the State stands at 318.

A total of 116 civilians and 35 Central security personnel tested positive for COVID-19 at 20 testing facilities in the last 24 hours, an official release stated.

Meanwhile, 96 persons, including 63 under home isolation, were discharged from 12 COVID care facilities in the same 24-hour period.

The cumulative number of positive cases in the State is 26,685, while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 2,970 and 23,397 respectively. The recovery rate of the State is 87.67 per cent.
