Manipur Speaker for a better democratic set up

IMPHAL, Sept 10 - Manipur Speaker Yumnam Khemchand has asked the people to elect their representatives based on performance for a better democratic set up.

Addressing the inaugural function of a seminar on Media and Parliamentary Reporting at Assembly Complex here recently, the Speaker informed that the Assembly will try to open a training bureau for its staff.

Former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam, former opposition leader O Joy Singh and president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee TN Haokip also spoke in the seminar.

O Joy expressed his desire to have a proper dissemination of information regarding the performance of legislators and parliamentarians to the masses. Haokip shared his thoughts on �Relation between Legislature and Media.�

In the post lunch session, former CM Koijam delivered a talk on parliamentary procedures while O Joy spoke on �Reporting of the proceedings of the house and breach of privilege & contempt of the house.� More than 50 media persons including editors attended the seminar.
