Manipur sets up swine flu monitoring cells

IMPHAL, March 8 � Monitoring Cell Helpline for Swine Flu has been opened in Manipur after the detection of a HINI case in the State.

Meanwhile, the condition of the confirmed H1N1 (swine flu) infected lady is stable and she is undergoing treatment at a private hospital, Director Health Services Okram Ibomcha said at a press meet here today.

Another man from Kabo Wakching was reportedly suffering from the suspected disease. His blood sample has been sent for test yesterday though he has not shown any symptoms for the last 24 hours, he also said.

The government has canceled holidaysfor the officials of Health Services department.

The Health Director informed that there was enough medicine in stock including Tami flu for the high risk groups and health workers, besides masks for personal protection. Isolation wards are also functioning at JNIMS and RIMS hospitals, he added.

High risk group to swine flu

Swine flu is vulnerable to five years and below children, 65 years and above people, Immune suppressed person, organ transplanted person, PLHIV with less CD4 count, people with lungs ailment or heart ailment.

According to guidelines of Government of India, we do not need to go for screening at the border entry points or airport as it is not practicable, Director Health Services said.
