Manipur recovery rate climbs to 76.14 pc

IMPHAL, Sept 8 - With 126 new recoveries reported from six COVID-19 care facilities in the past 24 hours in Manipur, the recovery rate of the State climbed to 76.14 per cent on Monday. So far, 5,484 out of the total 7,202 infected persons have recovered and been discharged from various COVID care centres in the State.

Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director of the Health Department, in a press release issued here on Tuesday, said: �The cumulative number of positive cases is 7,202. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 5,484. The number of active cases is 1,679. The recovery rate is 76.14 per cent.�

Stating that 94 persons, including 52 females from the general population and two from the Central Armed Police Forces, were confirmed positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Manipur, the release added that they are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Noney, Thoubal, Jiribam, Kakching, Noney, Chandel, Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts.

Five infected persons among the new cases are returnees from other States, while the rest 89 are local residents without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to COVID care facilities and other necessary measures are being into place.

�In the last 24 hours, one 48-year-old male from Thoubal expired at the RIMS,� the release said. The cumulative number of deaths is 39, he added.

As of Tuesday, a total of 3,55,571 persons were screened at various entry points of the State, while 1,77,002 individuals were tested for COVID-19 at various testing centres in the State, official sources said.
