Manipur recovery rate climbs to 70.80 pc

IMPHAL, Sept 2 - With 157 new recoveries reported from various COVID care facilities in the past 24 hours, the recovery rate of Manipur climbed to 70.80 per cent on Wednesday.

So far, 4,607 persons out of the total 6,507 positive cases have recovered and been discharged from various COVID care centres in the State.

The COVID 19 Common Control Room here stated in a press release: �The cumulative number of positive cases is 6,507. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 4,607. The number of active cases is 1,871. The recovery rate is 70.80 per cent.�

Stating that 123 persons from the general population and two from the Central Armed Police Forces were confirmed positive in the past 24 hours in Manipur, the release added that they are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Chandel, Churachandpur and Kakching.

All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to COVID care facilities, the release stated.

As of Wednesday, a total of 3,47,602 persons were screened at various entry points of the State, while 1,60,871 individuals were tested for COVID-19 at various testing centres in the State, official sources said.

Meanwhile, L Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations, handed over 20 hand sanitizers and 300 face masks to Bijoy Kakchingtabam, president, All Manipur Working Journalists� Union, for distribution among media persons at a function held at the Manipur Press Club here. The items were provided by the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East district.
