By CORRESPONDENT

IMPHAL, Oct 15 - Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government in Manipur is planning to introduce uniform for teachers of the government schools in the State.

Manipur Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam disclosed this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the New Academic Block of the N Gulap Memorial English School, Haraorou village, about 20 km from here in Imphal East district on Sunday.

The Minister said the uniform for teachers has already been started in some private schools. Now, it will be implemented for the teachers engaged in Government schools too.

He urged the schools to use audio-visual teaching and learning method to make learning more interesting. The children, he urged, should be made to have discussion and experimentation among their peers under the guidance of the teachers and guardians to inspire and help them in discovering their innate abilities.

With the new government in power, two Acts, namely, Manipur Private Schools (Registration & Regulation) Act, 2017 and Manipur Coaching Centre (Registration & Regulation) Act, 2017 were enacted on September 11, 2017, to regulate and supervise the private schools in the State. The steps were initiated after parents lodged complaints against heavy schools bags and seating capacity of school vans.
