The stand of STDCM was announced by its leaders at a press conference here on Friday. The STDCM has demanded the State Governments recommendation to Centre for the inclusion of Meitei or Meetei community in Scheduled Tribe (ST) list under Article 342 of the Indian Constitution.

Expressing discontentment over the attitude and response of the State Government to the demands, they said the first official level talk between representatives of STDCM and State Government commenced from October 24, 2017.

The talk was attended Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar and Works Minister Th Bishwajit representing the State Government, a press release said. However, there is no sign of any positive development even after ten months, it added.
