Manipur lead table, Assam shooters shine

IMPHAL, Oct 27 - Host Manipur are at the top of the medal tally winning a total of 108 medals including 54 gold, 34 silver, 20 bronze while Assam with 29 gold, 34 silver and 30 bronze are at the second spot in the ongoing North East Olympics here.

Arunachal Pradesh stand third with 13 gold, 10 silver and 24 bronze medals. Assam dominated in athletics and shooting. Shooters from Assam bagged 7 gold and 4 silver out of 8 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze medals at stake.

Assam�s pistol shooters added as many as 5 more medals in its overall tally in the 10 mtr Air Pistol event. The Assam men�s team, comprising of Ambarish Bharadwaj, Prasurjya Bhagawati and Priyanku Jyoti Sharma won gold while Ambarish Bharadwaj bagged the individual gold scoring 564 points. The women�s team gold also went to Assam with Sangita Hasnu, Bishaya Singha and Ettu Bhuyan while Sangita Hasnu claimed individual gold scoring 549 points.
