Manipur launches website to help stranded people

IMPHAL, March 29 - Chief Minister N Biren Singh today launched a website to reach out to the people of Manipur who are stranded outside the State and in need of help to overcome hardships in the wake of the nationwide lockdown imposed due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

The website (www.tengbang.in) was developed by CubeTen, a private firm, in coordination with the Information & Technology (IT) department of Manipur for free as part of their corporate social responsibility activity. �Tengbang� means assistance in Manipuri.

Launching the website here today, the Chief Minister said that it was launched with an objective to reach out to the people of Manipur who are currently stranded outside the State.

The website was also integrated with a payment gateway so that anybody who wants to donate to the Chief Minister�s COVID-19 Relief Fund can do it online. The CM�s COVID-19 Relief Fund was created on March 23.

Urging the people of the State to stay at home, Singh stated that the government has taken certain steps like home delivery of essential items.

Informing that the condition of the only COVID-19 patient of Manipur, who is undergoing medical treatment at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science in Imphal, is improving, he called upon the people to pray for the speedy recovery of the patient.

Many people of Manipur, mostly students, are stranded in various States after the Ministry of Home Affairs ordered suspension of all passenger flights and trains for 21 days.

Chairman of MANTRON & MANIDCO Dr Radheshyam Yumnam, Chairman of Loktak Development Authority L Susindro, Additional Chief Secretary (IT) Dr Rajesh Kumar and Director (IT) Nambam Deben besides Haobam Joyremba of CubeTen were present during launch of the website.
