Manipur Health Minister visits Moreh

IMPHAL, March 10 - In view of the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), Manipur Health Minister L Jayantakumar Singh has directed opening of isolation wards at the Moreh Hospital and the Integrated Check Post (ICP) located at Moreh, a border town of Manipur today, official reports said.

Principal Secretary of Health V Vumlunmang, Director of Health Services Dr K Rajo Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Tengnoupal M Rajkumar Singh, and Additional Director of Health Dr Sachi accompanied the Health Minister during the visit to Moreh.

Meanwhile, speaking to media persons, minister Jayentakumar Singh said that there are no confirmed reports of coronavirus in the State. There is also no confirmed coronavirus case in Myanmar too, according to the latest survey of the World Health Organisation, he added.

The Health Minister said that the Health Department is making all efforts to prevent the disease in the State. He said that Moreh, being an international border town along Myanmar, is a sensitive place. Regarding the shielding of the international border to stop entry of foreigners who may be carriers of the disease, Jayentakumar Singh said that the Ministry of Defence and the External Affairs Ministry would be consulted if the matter became serious. He said that fake reports in the social media should not be trusted.
