Manipur Health Minister inspects quarantine centres

IMPHAL, May 31 - Manipur Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar said that the Health department is trying its level best to increase the number of health workers and supporting staff in order to provide adequate service in the hour of crisis.

In this context, he appealed to the health workers and supporting staff to extend their service in the greater interest of the State.

After inspecting quarantine centres set by the Health department to fight COVID-19 pandemic at two places in Imphal West and Imphal East districts, the Minister asserted that the State government would recognise the service of the health workers. He also distributed personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitizers, N-95 masks and gloves among the health workers at the quarantine centres as supplementary protective back-ups.

Interacting with the health staff stationed at the respective quarantine centres, he asked them to provide service to the COVID-19 patients. On the state�s preparedness to check spread of the novel coronavirus, Additional Director (Health), Dr Arkey said that the department has identified UNACCO School, Metram in Imphal West district to convert into COVID Care Centre.
