Manipur Govt to provide fiscal support to youths

IMPHAL, Sept 13 - Manipur government is planning to provide fiscal support to the youths who have lost their jobs during the COVID pandemic. The youths will be provided loan under the start-up scheme.

Disclosing this at a function, Chief Minister, N Biren Singh said that the scheme would benefit the youths to a large extent. �It (start-up Manipur) will serve as an opportunity to those who have returned from outside,� he said.

The Chief Minister also informed the gathering that the State government is planning to provide bank loans to around 20,000 vendors whose business got affected due to prolonged lockdown. He also urged the banks to expedite the process so that the vendors may restart their activities soon.

State Textiles, Commerce and Industry Minister, Th Biswajit, Revenue Minister K Shyam, Forest and Environment Minister Awangbow Newmai and Water Resources Minister Letpao Haokip attended the function.

Start-up Manipur was launched in 2017-2018 to make Manipur, one of the top start-up destinations in the North-east. Since its launch three rounds of selection of beneficiaries have been conducted and provided monetary assistance to 877. A beneficiary can avail up to Rs 1 crore with 30% subsidy depending on the scale of their business.
