IMPHAL, June 5 - The BJP-led coalition Government in Manipur on Tuesday held a Cabinet meeting in the headquarters of Ukhrul district, 84 km from here.

It was the seventh such meeting held outside the State capital. The earlier meetings were held at Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong, Senapati, Jiribam and Kangpokpi.

Tuesday�s meeting was chaired by Chief Minister N Biren Singh. The Cabinet gave the nod to implementation of a school development programme.

The objective of the programme is to give added thrust to the cause of improvement of government schools in terms of both physical infrastructure and manpower. One government school each in all the 60 Assembly constituencies of the State will be developed as a model school in the first phase of the programme. All these schools will be run and developed in a uniform pattern.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting at Ukhrul town, Education Minister and government spokesperson Th Radheshyam said the Cabinet also approved of creation of different posts for the Manipur Lokayukta and the Manipur Human Rights Commission to ensure smooth running of the two Constitutional bodies.
