Manipur Govt moves ADC polls to June 1

IMPHAL, April 17 � The elections to the six Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in Manipur has been postponed to June 1. Earlier, it was fixed for May 30.

The decision was taken at a State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh here today.

State Government spokesperson M Okendro said that the election is being postponed as an important Christian event of Seventh Day Adventist falls on May 30.

Accordingly, the ADC election on June 1 will start at 7 am and polling will close at 4.30 pm. If the need arises, re-poll will be conducted on June 6. Counting will be done on June 10 and all the election related process will be winded up by June 17. The formal public notification of the ADC election will be out on April 30.
