Manipur COVID-19 toll surges to 318

IMPHAL, Dec 9 - Manipur reported seven deaths due to COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, official sources said here. The COVID-19 death toll in the State has surged to 318.

In the last 24 hours, three males and a female from Imphal West, two males from Imphal East and a male from Bishnupur expired at the Shija Hospital, Raj Medicity, RIMS and JNIMS Hospital, stated an official release today.

During the past 24 hours, 122 persons from the general population and 16 personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces were confirmed positive, the release added. The new COVID-19 positive cases were detected at 23 testing facilities in the State.

In the same 24-hour period, 135 persons were discharged from 13 COVID care facilities after they were found COVID-19 negative following RT-PCR tests. The cumulative number of positive cases in Manipur is 26,5343, while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 2,915 and 23,301 respectively, the release stated. The recovery rate of the State is 87.81 per cent.
