Manipur COVID-19 death toll reaches 12

IMPHAL, Aug 11 - With the death of one patient, the total number of fatalities due to COVID-19 in Manipur reached 12 today, officials said.

�Today, a male aged 60 years from Imphal East expired due to COVID-19. He had comorbid health conditions. The cumulative number of deaths is 12,� said Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director of the Manipur Health Department in a press release.

The State had reported its first death case due to COVID-19 on July 29.

Meanwhile, with the detection of 88 new cases, Manipur recorded a total number of 3,941 COVID-19 positive cases.

As many as 2,155 cases were discharged from different COVID care facilities on Tuesday, the press release added. The current number of active cases is 1,774.

As on Tuesday, the cumulative number of test results (for COVID-19) is 1,04,263, while the total number of persons screened at various entry points of the State stands at 3,26,463. The first COVID-19 case in Manipur was reported on March 24.
