Manipur COVID-19 cases rise to 59

IMPHAL, May 29 - With four new positive cases, the total COVID-19 tally in Manipur has increased to 59. The total number of active cases stands at 52.

In press release today, Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director of the Health Department, said, �Three adult males from Imphal West district were tested last night at the VRDL (virus research and diagnostic laboratory) of the RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences) and they were found COVID-19 positive.�

Informing that the patients have now been admitted to the COVID care facility at the RIMS, the release said, �Their condition is stable. All necessary control measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.�

Meanwhile, in an effort to spread awareness about the COVID-19 pandemic, a joint committee with representatives of different civil society organisations of the State has been formed.

The joint committee has MLA Th Satyabrata as convener and Assembly Deputy Speaker K Robindro and MLA H Dingo as co-conveners. It will facilitate greater awareness among clubs, meira paibis, CSOs and the public about measures taken by competent authorities to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, for their effective implementation.
