Manipur CM tests positive for Covid-19

IMPHAL, Nov 15 - Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday said that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

�I have tested positive for COVID-19. I request all those who came in close contact with me recently, to self isolate and get tested,� he said in a tweet.

According to a Health Department official, the 59-year-old Chief Minister, who had campaigned extensively in the run-up to the November 7 bypolls to five Assembly seats, is undergoing home isolation.

Meanwhile, With 259 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered COVID-19 cases in Manipur reached 18,593 on Sunday, officials said. Manipur�s recovery rate stands at 85.01%.

The recovered patients are from 17 COVID care facilities, said Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, spokesperson of the health deprtment.

Out of 18, 593 recovered cases, 15,941 are from the general population while the remaining 2,652 are security personnel. In the past 24 hours, 213 persons from the general population and 22 personnel from the Central armed police force were confirmed as new COVID 19 positive cases.
