Manipur CM lays foundation of 5 bridges

IMPHAL, March 6 - Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that there would be no financial constraints for executing developmental works and welfare of the people. He was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of five bridges over the Imphal river at Khongnangkhong Lampak, Heingang and Mayai Leikai in Imphal East district today.

He also appealed to the people of the State to avoid hostility towards any ethnic group. One should support one another to bring inclusive development in the State, the Chief Minister said. Each bridge will be constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 6.80 crore, he added.

The Chief Minister said that the land survey for the development of the Ibudhou Marjing Complex at Heingang has been completed. A total of Rs 27 crore will be sanctioned for the project, he added. He stated that a sum of Rs 15 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the �Imphal View� tower at Langol Hills. Ropeway service will be provided from Marjing Hill to Langol Hill to attract more tourists and Rs 360 crore would be sanctioned for the project. A ropeway project to connect Thanga to Chaoba Hill would also be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 265 crore, he added.

In his speech, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Th Biswajit Singh said that the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana II has been launched, which aims at improving the overall condition of the existing rural road network. A detailed project report will be completed within three to four months, he added.
