Manipur CM confident of winning floor test today

IMPHAL, March 19 - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led coalition government in Manipur, headed by Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh, is confident of winning the crucial floor test in State Assembly hall here tomorrow. Speaking to media after the swearing in ceremony of the 60 members of the House here on Sunday, the Chief Minister said he is confident to prove the majority.

Meanwhile, the first joint legislator party meeting of the coalition partners was held with Chief Minister in the chair here this evening to chalk out the strategy for tomorrow�s session.

The meeting was attended by 31 legislators besides BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav and Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The House will also elect the Speaker on Monday. BJP MLA Yumnam Khemchand and Congress MLA Govindas Konth-oujam have filed their nomination papers for the Speaker�s post.
