Manipur Chief Justice sworn in

IMPHAL, July 10 � The former acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur Justice Laxmi Kanta Mohapatra was sworn in as the new Chief Justice at a simple function at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan here today.

Governor VK Duggal administered the oath of office and secrecy to Justice Mohapatra. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, PHE Minister I Hemochandra, Education Minister M Okendra, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai, senior civil and police officials and Justice N Kotiswor attended the function.

Manipur session: A session of the Manipur Assembly will be begin at the new Assembly Complex at Chingmeirong here tomorrow. The 12-day session will conclude on July 28. On Monday, the Governor will deliver his address to the House.

Meanwhile, a sit-in demonstration was held here today demanding implementation of the Inner Line Permit system in the State. The sit-in organised by the Joint Committee on ILP system was participated by leaders of women organisations.
