Manipur CEO reviews poll preparations in Kangpokpi dist

IMPHAL, March 12 - The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur, PK Singh, visited Kangpokpi on Monday to take stock of the preparations for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The CEO also held a meeting with the District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner Lalithambigai K, SP Hemant Pandey, CEO SH-ADC T Manihar, ADC/ADM Lalramsang Infimate, SDOs/AROs, election officer and all district nodal officers at the conference hall of the DC, Kangpokpi.

The CEO highlighted the important aspects of the Model Code of Conduct and asked the officials concerned not to violate any.

Earlier, a meeting with different political parties was chaired by DEO Lalithambigai K at the same venue. Nodal officer for the Model Code of Conduct Samuel explained to all representatives of political parties about the Model Code of Conduct in detail.

Meanwhile, the third-phase training of sector officers and sector magistrates was held on Tuesday. The nodal officer for training and SDO Imosana Sorokhaibam and Election Officer Chungsat Khongai imparted training to all sector officers and sector magistrates of the district.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate of Thoubal Haobam Rosita has issued prohibitory orders under Sub-Section 2 of Section 144 CrPC.

There is prohibition against assembly of five or more persons and carrying of sticks, stones, licensed arms, firearms, weapons and other explosive materials including firecrackers with effect from 6 pm of March 11. However, the orders will not apply to law-enforcing agencies and in respect of maintenance of essential services.
