IMPHAL, Sept 15 - With 239 new COVID-19 positive cases, including 15 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel, Manipur today crossed the 8,000 mark in the virus tally that currently stands at 8,210, official sources stated.
The COVID-19 Common Control Room, Imphal, on Tuesday said 224 persons from the general population and 15 from the CAPFs were confirmed positive in the past 24 hours.
They are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Ukhrul, Kakching, Tamenglong, Churachandpur and Bishnupur, said Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson of the Manipur Health Department in a press release today. All the civilian patients are locals without any significant travel history.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, a 69-year-old man from Imphal West expired at the RIMS. The cumulative number of deaths is 47.
It may be mentioned here that the State reported its first death due to COVID-19 on July 29, while the first COVID-19 case was confirmed on March 24.
On the other hand, 78 persons were discharged from five COVID care facilities after they tested negative in the past 24 hours, the release said. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 6,418, it added. The number of active cases is 1,745. The recovery rate is 78.17 per cent.
Advising the public to self-isolate themselves immediately in the event of contacting positive persons, the release stated that the COVID control room or the CMO (Chief Medical Officer) should be contacted for testing.
So far, 3,64,343 people have been screened at various entry points of the State, while 1,96,010 samples were tested for COVID-19, according to the latest report of the State Surveillance Officer of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.
