Manipur body not to take part in Guwahati meet

By Newmai News

IMPHAL, May 13 Responding to the invitation of the Co-ordination Committee of Naga Civil Societies and Organizations for a meeting in Guwahati on May 14 on the present situation of Manipur, the All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) on Thursday conveyed its regret for its inability to take part at the proposed meeting at the moment due to various reasons and circumstances. However, AMUCO said that it looks forward to the people-to-people dialogue in future.

The ongoing blockade of the National Highways leading to the State, the Naga Students Federation (NSF) restriction against movement of transporters through Nagaland into Manipur and also the present impasse in the State have all contributed to its inability to participate in the proposed meeting, NC Madhuchandra, publicity secretary of AMUCO, explained.

The statement said that the people of NE have been living together since time immemorial and that the organization believes that whatever issue that may crop up in Northeast, could be solved through dialogues and meetings.
