Manipur all-party team to meet Central leaders on Naga talks

By Correspondent

IMPHAL, Oct 26 - A delegation of all political parties in Manipur is likely to go to New Delhi in a couple of days to submit a memorandum in connection with the ongoing Naga peace talks, sources said.

A State BJP team left for New Delhi on Friday to fix appointments with the Central leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a source privy to the developments said.

The all-party delegation is expected to present the case of Manipur with regard to the ongoing talks with the NSCN-IM before the Central Government.

On Friday, the memorandum drafting sub-committee on the Naga peace talks, led by Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh, called on Chief Minister N Biren Singh here. It may be noted that the drafting sub-committee was formed during the all-party meet held here on October 22.

Meanwhile, women activists took out torch rallies at several places in the State last night as part of the ongoing public alert movement. The movement is being held under the aegis of the newly-formed Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity, a joint body of major civil society organisations of the State. The committee has demanded that the solution to the Naga issue should not affect the interests of the people of Manipur in any manner.
