Manipur aims to increase farm output

IMPHAL, May 3 - In view of the COVID-19 situation, the Manipur Government is working on measures to increase agricultural and horticultural produces in the State.

In this regard, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh chaired a high-level meeting with the representatives of farmers producer companies (FPCs) here on Saturday.

Singh emphasised on increasing the production and availability of agri-horticutural produces in view of the evolving situation arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting discussed the situation and constraints in connection with cultivation, production and supply of different crops in the State.

The Chief Minister advised the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation to support farmers and FPCs to start cultivation of short duration high-value crops the suit the present climatic condition.
