Manipur Advocate General flown to Delhi for treatment

By The Assam Tribune

IMPHAL, March 15 (PTI) - Manipur Advocate General Nongmeikapam Koteshwar who was injured in accidental firing by a minister on March 6 has been flown to Delhi for treatment.

Koteshwar who was at a private hospital for over a week and where a bullet was removed from his chest, left with his wife yesterday for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, family sources said.

Koteshwar was injured when a licenced gun belonging to Tribal Development Minister DD Thaise accidentally went off when Works Minister K Ranjit touched it, as the three were returning from Ukhrul in a car.

Several social organisations and the All Manipur Bar Association have demanded a CBI probe into the incident.

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh had earlier said that since the firing was "accidental" there was no need for a CBI enquiry and moreover, the minister had apologised to Koteshwar.
