IMPHAL, June 9 Counting of votes for the ADC Election 2015 held on June 1 will start at 8 am tomorrow. Preparation and security arrangement for the last step of the election process have already been made.

The counting of vote will be held at the respective district headquarters of Ukhrul, Chandel, Senapati, Tamenglong and Churachandpur districts and at the Kangpokpi ADC Office for Sadar Hills ADC.

To avoid violence and any other unwanted incidents during the process, the district administrations have imposed CrPC 144 in and around the areas of vote counting centres. Moreover, State police and Central paramilitary forces are beefing up securing the areas, said a source from the State Election Commission.

It may be mentioned here that the Commission had also conducted re-polls at 74 polling stations on June 4 and 6 after some elements interrupted the election proceedings on June 1. A case was also filed in the Manipur High Court to withhold counting of votes for those particular stations where there were allegations of unfair means during the election process.

Altogether 495 candidates are in the fray. 120 of them are BJP candidates, 91 INC, 82 NPF, 191 Independent candidates, 4 of JDU and 6 of Lok Jan Shakti Party.
