Manhunt on to nab ex-DIG PK Dutta

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 4 - Even after 11 days, prime accused in the SI recruitment scam PK Dutta remains untraced despite Assam Police making all-out attempts.

Sources claimed that a team of Assam Police has already left for neighbouring country Nepal, where the son-in-law of former DIG PK Dutta is based. However, police is tight-lipped about the entire development.

With police not being able to track down Dutta, the investigators have failed to connect the dots vis-a-vis the entire chain of events which led to the leakage of the question paper. Although several persons have been arrested by Assam Police, it is yet to unearth the insider who actually facilitated the leakage.

Investigators, when asked, conceded that the leakage of the question paper would not have been possible without the involvement of someone who was privy to the actual content.

It is, however, still not confirmed whether the police team in question has got in touch with Duttas son-in-law. Meanwhile, more arrests are likely in the coming days.

The CID is likely to seek custody of Diban Deka, whose custody in Crime Branch of Guwahati police will end on October 5. Deka is believed to have provided the investigators a number of startling revelations during questioning.
