MANGALDAI, Sept 22 - Mangaldai Town Club (MTC) emerged champions in the 19th Ananta Chandra Choudhury Memorial Inter Club Football Tournament, organised by Chapai Yuva Kalyan Kendra at Chapai Nehru Maidan near here.
In the keenly contested final match played on Friday afternoon, MTC got the better of Kehutoli Bangrim Club 6-5 via tie breaker after a 2-2 draw in the regulation time. Nirupam Boro and Jayanta Boro struck one goal each to give MTC 2-0 lead but Suresh Boro and Chikon Boro equalised for Kehutoli.
Samin Boro of the winning team was adjudged best player of the tournament. In the prize distribution ceremony trophies were handed over by donor Prabhat Choudhury. Chairman, Mangaldai Municipal Board Pratap Bordoloi, veteran sports organiser Biren Medhi were also present on the occasion. Earlier, Mangaldai MLA Gurujyoti Das and Darrang ADC Pankaj Chakravarty jointly inaugurated the final match.
