MANGALDAI, Dec 30 - Mangaldai MP and National General Secretary of ruling BJP, Dilip Saikia underscored the need for total transparency regarding distribution of Local Area development (LAD) funds in order to help the needy.
The MP distributed sanction letters of the first installment of grant in aids of MPLAD (2019-20) involving an amount of nearly Rs 80 lakh against 36 sanctioned schemes in four Assembly constituencies of Darrang.
�I strongly believe that funds granted for the development should be properly utilized so that the poor people are benefitted,� he said. In this context, the MP claimed that BJP has been according priority to root-out corruption in order to bring in development. �The earlier government misappropriated public money for which the development in the state came to a grinding halt. But, we are trying to check corruption and the people have got the results in the last five years,� he said. Saikia also appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to step up vigil on the ongoing schemes.
The ceremony was also attended by president, Darrang Zila Parishad Dhirendra Nath Deka, Darrang Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah, District Development Commissioner Subhalaksmi Deka, senior party leaders and representatives of relevant beneficiary construction committees.
