MANGALDAI, July 2 - Synchronising with the countrywide celebration of its glorious 210 years of banking service to its valued customers, the Mangaldai branch of State Bank of India (SBI) too organised a modest function at the Youth Club Hall here on Wednesday.
Mangaldai legislator Gurujyoti Das, Deputy Commissioner of Darrang, Manoj Kumar along with the Chairman of Mangaldai Municipal Board Pratap Bordoloi lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the occasion.
With eminent litterateur Idrish Ali in the chair, Assistant General Manager of Mangaldai SBI branch A Karim in his welcome speech highlighted the history and contribution of the bank and also spoke about its functioning.
Darrang Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar in his speech appreciated the role of SBI towards the society and the nation. Speaking on the occasion, Mangaldai legislator Guru Jyoti Das appealed to the SBI authority to create awareness on the Pradhan Mantrir Jan Dhan Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Achani, Atal Pension Yojana, etc., so that maximum number of deserving citizens can avail the benefits.
District Development Manager of NABARD Biswajit Dev, officiating joint Director of Health Services Dr Ramesh Chandra Goswami, Principal of Kharupetia College, Dr Budhin Chandra Hazarika and Manager of the Personal Banking Department Deben Baishya also took participated in the function.
Earlier, the students of Bishnu Jyoti Music College enthralled the audience with a melodious chorus.
