GUWAHATI, Jan 4 � A function organised jointly by members of the Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh�s Mangaldai unit and Darrang Zilla Mahila Samiti at the Youth Club of Mangaldai recently, felicitated Namrata Sarma, who is credited with setting a world record by writing the longest philosophical poem, a press release received here stated.
The felicitation function which was organised in sync with Padma Shri Nalinibala Devi�s reminiscence meet, presented a citation, phulam gamosa, japi, and a copy of Srimad Bhagawat Gita to Namrata Sarma, besides warmly lauding her enviable achievement, which did the State, nay the nation proud.
A meeting held on the occasion was presided over by Darrang Zilla Mahila Samiti president Rani Devi, while Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh�s Mangaldai unit president Renu Konwar was also present. The programme was compered by poet Biswahira Bhuyan Deka.
Padma Shri Nalinibala Devi�s grandchild Manju Sarma shed light on her grandmother�s poems. As a part of the itinerary, poems were recited and songs were sung, along with naam prasanga. Several prominent writers of Darrang district, besides social workers were present on the occasion.
