Mangaldai civic board launches first tax payers online service in NE

MANGALDAI, June 8 - Much to the convenience of the tax payers and citizens of Mangaldai town, the Mangaldai Municipal Board on Tuesday launched the citizen-centric online service system. The service launched throughout Mangaldai Municipal area with the help of the facilitators of the Common Service Centres (CSC) is reportedly the first of its kind in the urban administration history of the entire North East.

In this connection, the Mangaldai Municipal authority organised a public function in the �Borpukhri� park of the town where MLA, Mangaldai Gurujyoti Das, Director of Municipal Administration, Assam Nazreen Ahmed, District Development Commissioner Sweety Gogoi Kalita, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Executive Officer of Mangaldai Municipal Board Pankaj Chakravarty, Chairman of the Municipal Board Pratap Bordoloi and State Head of the CSC, Jnan Doley among others were present.

Speaking on the occasion ADC, Chakravarty who has recently taken over charge as the Executive Officer of the urban body explained how the municipal administration has taken steps to bring 17 citizen-centric services including tax clearance certificates, resident certificates, business NOC, electrification NOC service under the online service thereby bringing the service more close to the tax payers to make it transparent, hassle free and effective. He also highlighted the efforts to make Mangaldai a plastic-pollution free township for which he appealed to the residents and traders to segregate their day-to-day garbage into organic and non-biodegradable material and store them in two different dustbins.

The Municipal Board authority also made a unique move in the waste disposal system by offering special uniforms and identity cards to all the ragpickers and the cleanliness staff of the Board. The function also witnessed offering felicitation to a total of 71 meritorious students under the Municipal area who secured more than 80 per cent marks in HSLC and HS final examination of this year with gamosa, bundle of books etc. Earlier on the occasion of the World Environment Day, a mass awareness procession on environment protection, cleanliness against plastic pollution was taken out across the town.
