Mangaldai BJP MP�s appeal to party workers

MANGALDAI, April 24 - Mangaldai Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia of the BJP has urged party leaders and workers to engage themselves to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and prevent possible starvation in a mission mode.

Saikia in the presence of the two BJP MLAs of the district Gurujyoti Das and Binanda Kumar Saikia, was interacting with the media following a review meeting with the party�s local leaders about the situation arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic here at his residence on Thursday afternoon.

Saikia informed that with voluntary contribution from altogether 1,700 members, the party has managed to reach out to nearly 40,000 families from the economically weaker sections of the society in the district.

Besides, from collective donations from around 850 party workers, an amount of Rs 11 lakh has been deposited to the PM Cares Fund while another amount of Rs 17 lakh has been donated to the Assam Arogya Nidhi. �Our government and party workers, are both functioning like a mission against the spread of the deadly COVID-19 and also ensuring that not a single person has to die of starvation,� Saikia reiterated.

He claimed that special benefits of centrally-sponsored welfare schemes like PM Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, NFSA, Ujwala, etc., have reached 99 per cent of the targeted beneficiaries.

The parliamentarian expressed gratitude to all concerned including personnel from the Health, Sanitation, Police departments and the media for showing courage in keeping Darrang and Udalguri districts completely free from coronavirus infection. Saikia also gave a face mask and a hand sanitiser bottle of 100 ml each to the mediapersons present.
