�Manageable stress can boost brain functioning�

GUWAHATI, Aug 1 - Manageable stress can lead to increased brain functioning, a booster immune system and better preparation for future stressful situations which can positively affect emotional health with one�s work and home life.

This was stated by Loya Agarwala, counsellor, author and personality development consultant, at a national webinar organised jointly by Gauhati Commerce College and Gauhati Commerce College Alumni Association on the topic �Stress Management of students during covid-19 Pandemic� on July 31, said a press release today.

Agarwala mentioned that stress can affect health-related behaviour like sleep patterns, diet and exercise, taking a larger toll. She explained critically the need for stress management with the help of slides and discussed some of the techniques like getting enough sleep, practising visualisation, regular exercise, taking calming breath, practising progressive musical relaxation, listening to music and getting organised. She pointed out that a healthy diet is of utmost importance. She also suggested self-hypnosis, positive thinking and affirmation, avoiding overloading oneself, avoiding relaxing with alcohol, carrying on with one�s passion, getting emotional support and avoiding unnatural energy boosters.
