GUWAHATI, Feb 28 - A mentally challenged person died after he reportedly jumped into the Borsola Beel at Rehabari this morning.
The person has been identified as Dipankar Dutta (42) of Simaluguri area in Sivasagar district.
�The person was found loitering around in the city yesterday. Paltan Bazar police brought him to the police station and contacted his relatives. This morning, police handed him over to his relatives. The deceased was on his way home from the city along with his relatives when the incident happened. He somehow escaped the attention of his relatives, who were then in a medical store, and jumped into the beel,� police sources said.
�A missing case had been registered in Sivasagar district earlier this month,� the sources added.
The SDRF recovered the body around 9.30 am from the site. It has been sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
