Man injured in landslide at Jorabat

JORABAT, July 9 - An elderly man believed to be in his sixties was injured when he got stuck under the debris in a landslide that occurred near here this afternoon.

According to the locals, the unfortunate man who went by the title Bora, was reportedly building a roadside stall at the foot of a steep hill at 11th Mile near Jorabat for the past few days. The stall was scheduled to be inaugurated on Wednesday.

The stall was completely damaged in the landslide. Jorabat police rushed to the spot along with traffic personnel and after an hour of struggle, rescued the man with active support from the local people. The man was soon rushed to the GMCH in a critical condition.

It may be mentioned that the area where Bora was constructing the stall was already notified by the authorities as a landslide-prone area.
