GUWAHATI, Aug 30 - Some local people of Noonmati area apprehended one Billal Ali Sheikh, 40, while he was allegedly trying to outrage the modesty of three young girls late Thursday night. They later handed him over to the police.
According to the police, the incident took place behind the Refinery High School where the accused also allegedly tried to snatch the mobile phones of the girls.
Billal is a daily wage labourer and resides in Salbari area of the city. He hails from Tamarhat area in Dhubri district. A case has been registered in connection with the incident under sections 354 and 392 of IPC. The district court of Kamrup Metro today sent him to judicial custody.
