KOKRAJHAR, July 13 - Sessions Judge Kokrajhar PK Bora on Friday awarded life sentence to one Nimai Barman accused of murdering his wife and minor daughter in his house in 2011 in Kokrajhar.
Nimai Barman was arrested on July 26, 2011, after he surrendered to the police and confessed to the crime.
PK Bora, after hearing 11 witnesses in the case held Barman guilty of the crime and sentenced him to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000, in lieu of which he will have to undergo an additional imprisonment term of one-and-a-half-year and the period of sentences will run concurrently.
According to the FIR lodged by the accused�s mother at the Salakati Police outpost, Barman had killed his wife and her minor daughter with a khukri and buried the bodies in the courtyard of his house on July 25, 2011.
The police also recovered the khukri which was allegedly used by Barman in the crime.
