GUWAHATI, Jan 3 - A CBI Court has convicted Joy Mitra, proprietor of M/S Win Inc, for causing wilful loss to UCO Bank by resorting to fraudulent means to the tune of Rs 25 lakh. The court found Mitra guilty under sections 120 (B), 420, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced him to imprisonment for four years along with a fine of Rs 10,000.
The FIR in connection with the case was registered U/S 120B/420 IPC and Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(c)&(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegation of financial fraud that took place during 2000-2006 in UCO Bank, Tezpur Branch.
Accordingly, the CBI�s Anti-Corruption Branch, Guwahati registered FIRs against several others accused. Mitra who was on the run, was arrested recently.
