Man beaten up over freak incident

JORABAT, Aug 10 - A man driving his car was thrashed by a group for splashing water on them at an inundated part of the National Highway-37 near Jorabat.

According to police, Vijay Das, a resident of 10th Mile Jorabat was driving the car towards Guwahati city along an inundated part of the highway at 10th Mile when the tyres of the car got into a pothole and splashed floodwater at a 407 mini bus moving parallel to it.

The angry mini bus driver chased and blocked the car�s way at 9th Mile and he, along with his helper and a few passengers, thrashed Das. Soon after receiving information, Jorabat police reached the spot and sent Das to the hospital in a critical condition.

After reviewing the situation, the police picked up the mini bus driver along with his helper and the passengers involved in the brutal act. Das alleged that the mob also snatched away a gold chain which he was wearing.
