RESUBELPARA, March 23 - A 34 year-old resident of Baladmari under Goalpara district in Assam was arrested by police after he allegedly lured an under-age teen from her sister�s house in Mendipathar and sexually abused her. The incident took place on March 21.
The accused Sahanur Islam had allegedly befriended the 17 year-old girl through social media and came to Resubelpara in North Garo Hills to meet her. He then took the girl to nearby Bherbari village under Jira under Goalpara where he allegedly sexually abused her.
�A woman came to know of their presence and immediately summoned the village people where the duo was questioned. The duo were brought to Mendipathar where a case of rape was registered,� said police.
A case under POCSO has been registered against the accused and he has been sent to judicial custody, said the source.
Medical reports have confirmed rape. The accused is allegedly working as a home guard volunteer in Goalpara. He has a wife and two children as informed by his brother.
