Mamoni critical despite signs of improvement

By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, Feb 20 The health condition of Dr Mamoni Raisom Goswami continues to remain critical, as she underwent crucial medical tests including MRI here this morning.

An eight-member team of doctors, led by chairman of the Institute of Critical Care and Anaesthesiology, Dr Yatin Mehta, is constantly monitoring her condition.

A doctor attending on her told newsmen that the MRI scan report showed some defused cells and her blood pressure level has stabilised, as the septicaemia level is going down. She continues to be on ventilation though she has been able to breathe on her own, the doctor added.

The Medanta Medi City has decided to issue regular medical bulletins from Monday onwards, revealed doctors.

Doctors described these signs as positive, though her overall condition remained unchanged and she is still unconscious. Yesterday, while she was being admitted at the hospital, Dr Goswami showed some positive signs and opened her eyes briefly.

Yesterday, chairman-cum-managing director of Medanta Medi City Dr Naresh Trehan said Dr Goswami was suffering from Bilateral Pneumonia.

Meanwhile, local Delhi residents have thronged the hospital to enquire about the Jnanpith awardees condition. Representatives of Assam Association, Delhi and State Government officials were present at the hospital at Gurgaon on Saturday, when she was brought from the airport.
